The course will integrate the EMBC knowledge in function of the set-up of environmental impact assessments. The procedures of various EIA's will be highlighted with respect to the marine environment and within the legal and policy framework. The course will include the definition of reference situations, the environmental assessments needed, impact analyses and the balancing of the impacts against the natural dynamics. Monitoring practices and evaluations will be discussed. Case studies will be presented related to marine aggregate extraction, dredging and dumping and the implantation of windmill farms.
