Christophe Destombe obtained his PhD from Lille University in 1987 where he worked on population biology and population genetics in red seaweeds. He worked for several years in post-doctoral positions at the Institut Maurice Lamontagne, Fisheries and Ocean Canada (Rimouski, Qu&eacute;bec) and at the National Research Council, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada on the sexual life cycle and on genetic identification of toxic dinoflagellates. From 1990 to 2000 he has a permanent position as Ma&icirc;tre de conference in the University of Lille (France) on the evolution of life cycle in red seaweeds. In 2001, Christophe Destombe moved to the UMR 7144 at the Station Biologique de Roscoff (France) where he worked on reproductive ecology and evolutionary biology in different seaweed species in the team of Myriam Valero.<br /> &nbsp;
