I obtained my PhD from the University Lille 1 in 1988 (Station Marine de Wimereux). I obtained a permanent position as senior lecturer at the University Lille 1 (France) in 1991. In 1999, I obtained a position of professor at the University of Littoral-Côte d’Opale. I moved in 2002 at the University Pierre & Marie Curie (Paris 6), at the Station Biologique de Roscoff (UMR 7144). I worked first on the structure and dynamics of coastal benthic communities and on benthic population dynamics, including secondary production and larval phase. I am now working on the metabolism of coastal benthic communities, including in situ measurements of primary production and respiration and calculation of organic and calcium carbonate productions and associated CO2 fluxes. I published more than 100 publications in international peer-reviewed journals, book chapters and books.
